Gear Selector Forks
The gear selector forks slide along the layshaft of a manual transmission, as the clutch is held down, and select the gears, which are controlled by the stick-shift, by the driver. If you feel a grinding sensation while trying to engage or disengage the engine, or shift the gears with the clutch, it is generally a bad sign and you should bring it into the repair shop for diagnostics and possibly repairs.
