One potential sign that your engine is overheating is if there is smoke coming out from the hood of your vehicle. If your engine is smoking, pull over onto the side of the road and call a car repair shop. If possible, add coolant or poor water onto the engine without removing the radiator pressure cap. If removed, very hot liquid or steam could burst out of the pressure cap and scald you. Why your engine cooling system is acting up could be because there is a coolant leak.
