After travelling through the car thermostat, the coolant continues through a hose and into the radiator. The coolant will then go through the core tubes of the radiator in order to cool down. Because of its aluminum design, the heat is conducted through the broad area of the radiator’s cooling fins, and afterwards it is passed on to the air that is streaming through the radiator. A radiator fan assists to better control the air circulation, which in turn aids the cooling process. The radiator cap, due to high pressure in the radiator, raises the boiling point of the coolant. Should the pressure become excessive, the radiator pressure cap will allow the coolant to overflow into the radiator overflow tank, or coolant reservoir. After the coolant has lost ample heat, it is recycled back into the engine cooling system.
